The Lovers – Updated 2025

Last year we launched The Lovers, a homebrewed fabled to help you spice up your love life games of blood on the clocktower with JSON support for the base 3 scripts. Back again this year with a purpose built custom script that showcases The Lovers. See below for download links and a rules FAQ.

How to Run

This Fabled character comes with a simple but powerful twist: at the start of the game, you find out another player’s name. That person is your perfect partner—your friend, your teammate. The kicker? If you and your named player are both alive at the end, you win, beating all the usual victory conditions. Yep, that means forget the town, ignore the demons—your love triumphs… as long as you both make it.

But let’s be real: love is never that straightforward. If there are 3 or more players who could win via The Lovers’ victory condition when the game ends, then nobody gets the special victory, and normal winning rules take over.

Basically, your love has to be the last one standing for Love to Conquer ALL.

Love Conquers All, is an advanced script with a theme of either romance or pairs in the character choices. The Good team is very powerful but the Evil team has a lot of poisoning or mobility to combat that. Not to mention the effect of the Lovers may have players on either team playing for Love rather than for their own team.

If you would prefer to play The Lovers with one of the base scripts the JSON files for those scripts, with the Fabled coded in, are also available below.

You will need to download the JSON file and upload to the official script tool under custom edition. The URL will not work directly.

FAQs

  • Do all players get a Lover?
    • It’s flexible enough if you can run it either way. The players shouldn’t know for sure to allow for bluffing, it is intended that all players do get a Lover
  • What do I do if I have an odd number of players?
    • Players do not need to be paired as Lovers. That means, Player A can get Player B’s name and Player B could get Player C’s name. This is a little more advanced and as a Storyteller you may want to evaluate if a love-triangle is best for your group or to have some players not have a lover
  • Who wins if I’m alive, my lover is alive but their lover is dead?
    • Only you. So in situations where Lovers are not paired with each other, the game could end in this situation. Only the players who are alive themselves and their named Player is alive get the win. So in setups where love is not requited you may need to bluff who you learned night 1 if you are going for The Lovers win.
  • Who wins, if player A is alive, A’s lover (B) is alive, B’s lover is alive (C), C’s lover is dead?
    • As that would be two players who could win via The Lovers, then A and B would win, C and all the other players would lose. If C’s lover was A or B and there would be 3 players who would win via The Lovers, then normal game win conditions would apply instead.
  • When are Lovers told who their lover are?
    • At the start of night 1 after the demon/minion info step. Though a Storyteller can and should adjust for specific players to avoid certain edge cases or easy “I win” scenarios (e.g. telling the Lleech after they pick their Lleech host)
